Offshore wind installation hirer

Atlantic Offshore Projects

Three serious bids on a wanted ad between Friday and Monday

Time to first serious bid on a wanted vessel ad
9 days14 hours

Atlantic Offshore Projects subcontracts vessels for offshore wind farm installation campaigns on the west coast of Ireland and the UK Celtic Sea. Their work is bursty — a campaign needs three multicats next Tuesday and then nothing for six weeks — so they don't own boats, they hire them.

The old workflow was a wall of WhatsApp messages and emails to known operators, plus a few brokers on retainer. A typical wanted-vessel post took nine days to attract a single serious bid: most operators wouldn't even see the request until a broker forwarded it on, by which point the cheaper boats were already gone.

On Vessel4you, James posted a wanted ad on a Friday afternoon for two multicats off Galway in two weeks' time. By Monday lunch there were three serious bids on the table from operators he had never worked with before — one of them was twelve percent under the rate he'd budgeted, and the operator turned out to be twenty nautical miles away.

"Posted a wanted ad on a Friday afternoon and had three serious bids before Monday lunch."
